Contact forms on websites and landing pages are a great way to get information from prospects and customers, however how do you know that the questions you are asking aren't turning people off and reducing completion rates? Today I want to talk about something that is very dear to my heart and that is how you can increase form completion rates on your landing pages and your websites.

The interesting thing is that 99.9% of clients that I come in contact with have never had analytics on their forms and  they've never even considered it,  yet Analytics is such a simple way of improving results and you can jump in and tweak straight away and get up to a hundred percent increase in conversions.

Increasing form completions is something you can do very very quickly to impress people, win friends and influence people etc etc so what I'm going to do is tease you now if you stick around in this video it's a very short video I'm going to show you the question that got a 97.5% drop off on a form.

That will be fascinating and this one too I'm going to show you the form that had good completion rates and the form that failed with one style of question I see used alot. 

On one of the questions but we hit 42%  drop off and 30% on other I'm going to show you those from a live campaign so stick around.

The other question I get asked a lot what works the best should I use a pop-up form or should I use embedded forms on the page and the answer is they both work but without analytics on the forms you're never going to know, so analytics  is very useful for helping you determine what potential clients are thinking and when you see people drop off on a question you know that they are not impressed with what you're asking them even though you may think it's a brilliant question.

These forms are different to surveys and we cover  surveys in another video because that is a separate topic but we are just talking about contact forms on websites.

The analytics also gives you an insight into what questions you should remove or rephrase.

 It's very very valuable information.  The other form that I see a lot now being used for contact form is intuitive forms or commonly known as conditional logic and these look like that so whatever your answer there it will determine what the next question is ,if you answer yes you'll get one question, if you answer no you'll get a different question so these can help with an engagement you can learn a lot from them but without analytics you can really piss people off and get very low completion rates.

So analytics analytics and split testing is also important, tweaking and improving is mission critical and I've already said it's something you can do very very simply for a client so let's jump over to the dashboard I'm going to show you those questions that people dropped off one I'm going to show you the dashboard and software that I use for forms 

I think Paperform is brilliant and introduce you to that so I'll see you over there shortly so first of all let's look at a form that has been tweaked and is working well there you can see it's had a reasonable number of people using it and looking at it etc and we've had a completion rate of between 87 and 92% but what is interesting is in the last 30 days we've had no drop-offs on that form at all so that form is working absolutely perfectly let's go look at one that's not working as well.

Here are the questions that I showed you we'll just tab up a little bit so you can see this one's had quite a lot more traffic so we've had 14 you know a thousand times of form has been viewed with eight and half thousand people see it except cetera but let's look at the questions because this is really really interesting mobile number no problem their email address no problem their physical address of the client and this one is very surprising for me the 3% of people dropped off from that not higher name no issue comments 14% which is fascinating but the address one got me.

 I would have thought there would be a lot higher but in the sector it was fine but look at the questions where they dropped off what product are you interested in okay 42% of people left the form when they got up to it and then is one of the last questions so that is an absolute wasted opportunity that needs to be removed or reword it in a way that appeals to the client and this one how did you find us both these questions are of value to the business owner not to the customer that is the key learning from there let's go and look at the drop off on this one and this one here we've had less number of people engaging with that form but you can still reasonable 7,000 times it's been viewed and this one here 90 percent drop off what sort of boat are you interested in once again benefits the owner of the website the person filling the format has no clue what sort of boat they're interested in they just want some help they want to be qualified there when I talk to someone about their needs and requirements so I think you'll find that really really interesting

 I find this company in their form and their service and everything to be absolutely brilliant I won't go through all the ins and outs of it here but here's some of the features and benefits here and they you know have payment registrations you can interface with Braintree and stripe and paper and all the rest of it they've got surveys and quizzes they got over a hundred themes that you can use brilliant company check them out I highly recommend them
